From Milking Parlor to Bridal Parlor: The Transformation of Our Old Dairy Barn into a Wedding Venue.

ree

There’s something magical about giving new life to an old space—especially one with deep roots in family and tradition. At Cates Farm at Cane Creek, our big red barn once echoed with the sounds of dairy cows and morning milking. Today, those same beams and boards now set the stage for laughter, music, and the joy of weddings and celebrations.

When we decided to turn the old dairy barn into an event venue, our goal was simple: preserve its rustic charm while adding the comfort and elegance today’s couples deserve. The original barn structure, with its weathered wood and soaring ceilings, became the heart of the event space. Every beam tells a story—one that connects the farm’s past to the memories being made here now.

Perhaps the most charming transformation is what we lovingly call the “Bridal Parlor.” Once the milking parlor, this cozy space has been completely reimagined as a private suite where brides can relax, get ready, and share quiet moments before walking down the aisle. It’s a beautiful nod to the barn’s history—and a perfect symbol of renewal and new beginnings.

What was once a place for hard work and early mornings is now a space for joy, love, and celebration. We like to think the barn is still full of life—it just looks a little different these days.
