About Us

We, John and Jennifer Cates, are the owners of Cates Farm at Cane Creek. Our vision is to make our farm a warm and welcoming place for all people.   We are an LGBTQ friendly business. John, a builder, realtor, and jack of all trades, is the one who lovingly restored the barn his Grandfather Carl and Grandmother Alda built in the 1940s.  Jennifer, a retired Latin teacher, lover of books and gardens, is the one who encourages John’s many ideas and projects.  Between us we have five adult children whom we love dearly, one tuxedo cat, and a newborn grandson named Leo, born on May 4th, 2022.   Together we have a lot of fun.
